Eugene Olivier

Eugene James Olivier was born on July 8, 1928 to his parents, Gerard Olivier and Leocade Jacquet-Olivier in New Iberia, Louisiana. He was the 6th child born to this union. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, Hurven, Bernard, Murphy, Antonie, and Donald, and his sisters, Mildred, Nettie, Louise, Juanita, Martha. As a young boy, his siblings remember Eugene as being the boy who loved to climb trees. Eugene received his General Education Diploma and enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany and Kentucky. Eugene was an outstanding solider and was honorably discharged from the military in 1952. Eugene met Barbara Ware in Denver, Colorado, the two were married in Raton, New Mexico. To this union, Wesley, and Kari Marie were born. They all shared an amazing bond of love that would never be broken. Later, Eugene was blessed with three grandchildren Gretchen, Vincent, III, and Skylar; and 7 great grandchildren, they were an added source of joy. The grandchildren remember traveling in the '86 pickup bed, and how "Grandpa" as they would lovingly call Eugene, would ask "Are you Cats ready to go?" and they would respond, "We're not cats!" By profession, Eugene was a Selector in Communications Support for AT&T. He was a hard worker and dedicated employee. In his free time, Eugene loved to ride his scooter, and relax at home. His friend Juan Ramero will miss the fellowship they shared. Eugene was a loyal friend. Eugene will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Eugene was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Olivier; his parents; Gerard and Leocade Olivier and 7 siblings. Eugene James Olivier departed this life April 14, 2015 in Denver, Colorado. He leaves to cherish his memory and to mourn his loss, his children, Wesley E. Olivier, and Kari Marie Olivier, 3 siblings, 3 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
