Dontai Rashad Carter was born on June 10, 1990 to his parents, Norman C. Davis and Jacqueline Carter. Dontai grew up with his big sister Lakeisha. They loved each other like only a brother and sister could. Lakeisha remembers arguing with Dontai because he would watch the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and pretend that he was Donatello. She would remind him that he was not a turtle, and that would make Dontai mad.
Dontai attended Hallett Elementary, Smiley Middle School, finally completing his education at George Washington High School. As a young child, Dontai attended Evangelist Temple Church of God In Christ with his grandmother, Missionary Marlene Wells, his brothers; Quincy, Quinton, Quillian, and his cousins; Desjah and Adrian. He was a member of Sunday School and Sunshine Band. He wasn't much for all of the church activities, especially singing. In 1998, he was blessed to attend the International Auxiliary In Ministries Convention; Church Of God In Christ in St. Louis, Missouri.
As a youth, Dontai played little league football for the Park Hill Black Hawks with his cousin Tyron Carter. He was also involved in basketball and running track, as he would race his brothers and cousins.
Dontai was a man of many talents who had many different jobs during his life ranging from construction to meal preparation. Wherever employed, he was dedicated, dependable and worked well with others.
During high school, Dontai met Sigourney Keith; together they became parents to a beautiful baby girl, Davaylin Rashae Carter. She would prove to be Dontai's everything. He loved his companion, and most of all his "Mini Me." Dontai and Davaylin had an indescribable relationship.
A man of fashion and a heart of gold, Dontai was full of life and very outgoing. He had a smile that could light up a room. Driven, strong, and kindhearted, he was a true blessing to all he came in contact with.
Dontai was preceded in death by his grandmother, Thelma Hilburn, great-grandmother, Mother Essie Davis, great-grandfather, Leonard Davis Sr., aunt, Bessie Mae Hartfield, and cousin, Jordan Nelson.
Dontai Rashad Carter departed this life on March 1, 2014 in Denver, Colorado.
