Life's Journey Clyde Scoggins Clyde Scoggins was born on August 6, 1926, in Nashville, Arkansas to his parents, Ernest K. Scoggins and Eliza Haislip Scoggins. He was the fourth child born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, R.B., R.C., Calvin, Fred, Billie, Jimmy, Willie and his sisters, Jerlene, Mae and Charlene. Clyde was an industrious young man, who didn't mind doing odd jobs for neighbors to earn money. The family relocated to Denver, Colorado and Clyde completed his early education by graduating from Manual High School in 1943. In 1945, he enlisted in the United States Army. While serving his country, Clyde was awarded a Victory Medal. He served with honor and distinction and was honorably discharged. On April 28, 1986, Clyde united in holy matrimony to the former Susan Edwards in Denver, Colorado. The couple first met while attending a social gathering attended by family and friends. Susan remembers her husband as a loving and devoted husband and father. To this union two sons, Jason and Justin were born. He was also the father of Wilma, Glenn, Pamela, Mark, Susan, and with his union of marriage, Sonya, Michael and Kenneth was added to the family. The family was always important to Clyde and they all shared many happy and precious moments together; later his fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren were an additional source of joy and pride in his life. He was a great cook and he loved to bar-b-que. He found great pleasure in hosting big cook outs just to invite family, coworkers and friends. By profession, Clyde was employed by Yellow Cab Company located in Denver, Colorado as a Professional Taxi Driver and Supervisor. His coworkers and employers remember him as being dedicated and dependable. His patrons remember his pleasant personality and helpful nature. He received numerous professional driver awards, trophies and certificates for his meritorious service. He was with the company for over 55 years. Clyde was a fun loving man who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he enjoyed attending the kid's sports activities, family gatherings including weddings and other party events, and watching the Denver Broncos. His closest friends, Hanby Wyatt, "Cornbread", "Williams" and "Pinto" will miss the camaraderie they all shared together and the fact that he was a true and genuine friend. Everyone who knew Clyde, will remember his greeting when you asked, "How are you doing?" his reply, "Well, I got up this morning"; or when conversing over the phone, he would ask "What are you doing? and before you could answer, he would say, "I'm talking to you."
